How to do integrations right (the first time)
For many businesses – and very likely, yours – integrations are critical. You already have your ATS, so you need your Ai assessment tool to work seamlessly with it, keeping data, tasks, and outcomes within a single ecosystem.
Sapia has out-of-the-box integrations with the leading ATS and HR tech providers, like Workday, Lever, PageUp, Kallidus, eArcu, and more. We can build custom integrations, too, if needed.
Confirm what the integration is designed to do, and who will use it.
Your provider will help you with this, but you need to provide them with user stories. User stories help your provider to understand, from the end-user perspective, how the integration will work. It removes ambiguity, stops feature-creep, and prevents the creation of unnecessary features or functions.
What constitutes a user story? ‘I want an integration with Platform A’ is a common request, but it does not count. Instead, ‘I want to be able to log into Platform A, click to Tab B, and see results from Sapia’s Smart Interviewer in Column C’. That is a story that helps both you and your provider design effectively.
Confirm costs and factor them into your budget.
As discussed in the last section, the cost of a custom integration can balloon considerably when the purpose and function of the integration is poorly defined. Get your user stories right, get them approved, and get accurate costings drawn up.
Keep your IT team, engineers, and system integrators heavily involved.
If done right, these stakeholders will manage the integration work for you, and report back to you on its progress. Getting pulled into the nittygritty takes time and money away from the rest of the project.
Make sure your existing tech is around for the long haul.
The following situation occurs more often than you think: Company A wants an integration with ATS B. Company A does all of the necessary work required to set the integration up. The integration is completed, and the bill is paid. Then, just months later, one of the higher-ups at Company A decides that the whole company will no longer use ATS B because they’ve found a cheaper solution.
“Let me start by acknowledging Sapia’s flexibility in designing the configuration. They’ve done a wonderful job of guiding us through the process, proposing solutions to potential problems, offering alternative solutions for consideration and generally making things happen. The process to date has been very smooth and professional, and has been a great example of effective collaboration between a supplier and customer.”
